Bunky

Hard Lessons

24 Apr , 2015

On friday my crit group helped me decide how to go about shading the character in the Bunky App. We  decided that on a very small screen it was better to do gradient only and have the outlines solid.  I worked on it all day friday and got everything except the bear and his “offspring” done. I proceeded to overwrite the file on my portable hard drive and take it home to work on it.

At home I had the pre-friday file open on my computer , and when I quit out I saved it. Later I merged the folder holding my workboard with the one on my portable hard drive. It overwrote all of my work from friday because the one on my home computer was saved later. I am kicking myself for not having re-named the file.

Then at take it or leave it I one of the panelists questioned it being in my portfolio, because people go to school for character development and that I would be competing with them. Another panelist said they were removing more and more illustration work from their portfolio as time went on so this was pretty discouraging. I was given good feedback on a UI element I can change on this, and the advice to create a polished demo of the interface in after effects. I was hesitant because I don’t know after effects at all but maybe I can help someone letterpress and they could help me with my animation of the UI.
